Lady of Curses

Chapter 34-Introductions and frustrations

''Wanna come inside?'' After the greetings, Suria offered Aella to come inside.

''Sure.''

After Aella answered positively, Suria put down her watering tool, and took the lead as they entered the house Aella just came out of. Suria led her to one of the couches that had a wooden table in front of it.

''Want something to drink?''

''Yes, please.'' While Aella sat down on the couch, Suria went to make them something to drink. It was an open kitchen so Aella could easily see what Suria was doing.

''So have you decided what will you be doing?'' While  Suria was looking for cups, she started talking to Aella. ''I mean for your finances.''

''No, not yet, I haven't really looked at the options I have yet.'' Both of their voices could freely fly through the spacious living area so they had no problem hearing one another. ''The only solid option I know is that I can become the lord's subordinate.''

''I see, do you have any healing abilities?'' While they continued talking Suria had found two wooden cups, and was now putting some herbs in them. ''Because if you do, I could hire you.''

''Unfortunately no, I specialize in curses.''

''Oh, well then you either have to find some menial work, or go hunt some monsters, and then you can sell those.'' While talking Suria took a jade green teapot that had two gems imbedded in its side, one blue and the other red, and she started to pour water into the cups. ''Well, that is if you don't want to become the subordinate of the lord.''

''I see.'' Aella said that while Suria walked to where Aella was sitting and sat on the opposite couch while putting down the hot drinks.

''I hope you don't mind tea.'' To Suria's inquiry, Aella just shook her head indicating that she was fine with tea, and then took a sip. ''The lord here isn't bad, if I had to say she is one of the more generous ones.''

''Good to know, but I still will make that a last option.'' Aella took another sip of the tea.

''Understandable, well if I get some news that someone that I know needs help I will tell you.''

''Thanks.''

''But enough about this, what do you think of Zira?'' Suddenly Suria's tone changed to more energetic and enthusiastic.

''Umm...'' Aella was a little flabbergasted by the sudden change, but when she looked at Suria's exciting eyes she decided to answer. ''Well, I think she is a nice company even though she is reserved.''

''Good to hear you see... wait...'' Suria closed her eyes and stopped talking for a second, but took only a moment before she opened her eyes and continued what she had started. ''You see Zira was in an incident that made her kind of paranoid about social interactions, and because of it she rarely talks to strangers, so I wanted your help with that, you won't need to do much, just be friends with her.''

''Sure.'' Even if Suria hadn't asked, Aella probably would have tried to have a friendly relationship with Zira herself.

''Perfect, so....'' Before Suria could say anything else she suddenly stopped and pulled something out of her pocket. It looked like a flat green six-sided crystal, and right now it was glowing light green. ''Sorry looks like I'm needed elsewhere.''

Suria quickly finished the tea and got ready to go but before she left she looked at Aella. ''You can feel here at home, if you want something to eat we have some food and snacks in the kitchen, bye!'' With that, Suria left the house and went to where she was needed.

Now Aella was left alone in this room, with some tea. While drinking the tea Aella started to think about what she should do next, the logical conclusion was that she needed to find a job.  After that Aella finished her tea her dark eyes moved as she observed the living room.

Finishing her tea Aella put the cup down on the table beside Suria's cup, after that, she stood up and went to find some way to get income.

''COME ON! I swear when I get the power I will hunt your kind to extinction!'' Not too far from the settlement, someone was screaming at a critter as it ran away from them.

Aella had decided that the first thing she would try was hunting, although it may not be the best option because she has no combating or hunting skills, she still decided to give it a try. But so far she had no luck, she tried to hunt some critters but no matter what she did they always got away from her.

Even when she used her curses, they did little to help, one of them made the critters a little bit slower, but they still could outrun her, and the other made them go mad. Well the madness wasn't so bad, because they lost all their senses and just attacked everything around them, but that includes Aella herself, and she right now is only a little bit stronger than an average human back on earth, and those critters are fast and in the state of madness. Aella couldn't do much to them, because if she wanted to kill them she needed to capture them, and she tried once and almost lost some fingers.

So she had to options find a group of creatures so that they kill each other, or use [Curse of weakness], and hope that she could catch them. But she had no luck so far. Arguably she wasn't that long out here, but for Aella who hadn't succeded even once it felt like she had spent a long, frustrating, time in this forest.

''Sight...'' After Aella expelled another frustrating sigh she moved on, hoping to get some luck this time.
