MULTIVERSE : Gacha System in NARUTO for KAKASHI

Chapter 31: travel

Walking through Tokonosu City stirred up a strange mix of nostalgia and anticipation. The sights and sounds felt familiar, though I couldn't be certain if this was the exact city from the story.

For now, there were no signs of the pandemic. According to what the gacha had informed me, the chaos would begin within a week at most. That gave me just enough time to make preparations.

My first priority was to check if the Takagi family was still here. They were my best option for resources and information since I couldn't recall the school's name from the plot.

As a man walked past, I subtly probed his memories, skimming for useful information.

The Takagis were still in the city. Their residence wasn't far, just within a 5-kilometer radius.

The man's life was ordinary, love his wife and daughter but powerless against corruption. Rather than fight it, he focused on saving money for his daughter's future.

"A simple, 'unremarkable' man," I sighed. "Time to visit the Takagi residence."

Even if the Takagis didn't provide immediate help, their guards would know which school Saya attended.

"Senpai, you're amazing!" a girl exclaimed, her voice filled with admiration as she looked up to the taller girl with sleek, purple hair.

Saeko Busujima.

Her presence was captivating, and her beauty effortless. But Saeko didn't seem swayed by the compliments.

"No, I still have much to improve," she replied, shaking her head.

And she believed it. Despite her skill, Saeko never stopped striving to become stronger.

Suddenly, her gaze snapped to the window. Her eyes narrowed, scanning the trees outside. A bead of sweat rolled down her temple.

"What's wrong, senpai?" one of the girls asked, noticing her unease.

Saeko didn't answer right away, her focus still on the window.

Am I imagining things? she thought, muttering softly.

Shaking her head, she turned back to the group. "It's nothing. You should get back break is almost over."

As the girls left, Saeko remained still, her instincts unsettled.

What she didn't realize was that she wasn't imagining things. Hidden in the trees, I observed her carefully.

"Not bad," I murmured. "Her senses aren't weak."

I had deliberately tested her by focusing my presence on her momentarily. Her immediate reaction confirmed her sharp instincts.

After school, Saeko returned home. Her residence, though smaller than Saya's, was impressive, complete with a private practice area.

Since her father was abroad, she was alone for now. As for her mother, she had passed away when Saeko was young.

Changing into a white kimono and black hakama, she began her usual sword drills, each movement precise and deliberate.

This was her routine, her way of honing her skills.

"Not bad," a voice interrupted her practice, though she didn't care about it right now. She immediately turned, ready to strike, even if the voice came from a distance.

She saw a boy standing there, wearing a white mask with red lips and a red design that looked as if blood was leaking from his right eye. His silver, spiky hair caught the light.

Although the man was unarmed, Saeko didn't feel safe. Instead, she felt danger emanating from him.

How did he get in? she wondered, looking at the door. Was he here before, or did he come after me without me noticing?

"Who are you, and why are you here?" she demanded, ready to strike if necessary.

"Who I am is for the future. For now, let's talk about why I'm here," the boy said.

He was wearing the litch mask he got before and had used a transformation technique to appear as a 15-year-old.

"I came here to see if you are worthy," he added, moving toward the wooden swords in the corner of the room.

Is this some kind of test? Saeko thought, not immediately jumping to conclusions.

"Worthy for what?" she asked, her eyes darting to her phone on the table in the other corner.

Only a fool wouldn't consider calling the police.

It didn't matter what the stranger's intentions were.

First, take action, then think about the consequences.

"To see if you're worthy to live," he said, pausing to let his words sink in.

Is he planning to kill me? Saeko thought, her heart racing.

She interrupted him. "Did I do anything to harm you?"

"No."

"Did you get a commission to kill me?"

"No."

"Then why do you want to kill me?" she demanded, not believing he was lying.

Even if he were, she couldn't afford to take chances.

"When did I say I want to kill you?" Kakashi asked, his tone calm.

"I'm saying, you're worthy to live with me and for me."

Saeko's eyes narrowed as she tried to comprehend his words. Worthy to live with me and for me? What did that mean?

Before she could voice another question, she was caught off guard. Something brushed past her face, too fast to follow.

A soft sound followed by a faint thud echoed in the room like something had struck the wall behind her.

Saeko's body froze. A sudden sensation on her cheek made her raise a hand instinctively. When she touched her skin, it came away with blood.

Her heart skipped a beat as she looked at her fingers, stained with crimson.

Turning quickly, she saw the source a blade(kunai) lodged into the wooden wall.

The realization hit her like a punch to the gut. He was serious.

Her stance shifted, her sword instincts kicking in as she took a defensive position, her body still radiating a quiet intensity.
