Chapter 261: Vidna
The Sebucus Archipelago was the second of the Legaia maps, with numerous islands connected by bridges. In addition, the region was known for having an active volcanic region that made the land ripe with opportunities to harness geothermal energy for power.
Vidna was rather special because this was where most of the geothermal energy was found. It had hot springs that made it one of the dream vacation spots for most Legaians. The only problem with this place was that it was too hot! And so, the townsfolk built numerous giant windmills all over town to keep the entire place cooler.
Because of the Geothermal energy, the town never ran out of power to keep their windmills turning.
The massive windmills have initially been used to blow away the heat and the thick steam that appeared from the ground. But when the Mist came, these windmills were turned around. With the powerful wind that it could generate, it managed to blow back the Mist and spared the city from falling into the Mist.
With the windmills, the townspeople managed to defend the town and protect themselves from the monsters.
The town was also built near the sea, and fishing was an occupation by many. The rich and fertile ground of the land was also good, and several plots of land were used for farming.
The Legaia heroes saw it and were stunned. Even those who lived in the cultivation world were amazed at what they saw. The town was very prosperous, and it was as if they had forgotten about the calamity of the Mist outside.
Everyone was tired and had fallen asleep as they were all brought into a certain house.
Seeing through the Eyes of Destiny, Dyne could sense that they were safe in Vidna, and he could even feel as if the rewards of Fate would allow him even to abuse Vidna. And so, he rested.
But all of Vidna was curious that they all watched the newcomers to their town. The appearance of numerous monsters that were tamed and people claiming to be living in Sol made everyone gather around them. The power, wealth, and temptations in Sol were known in the town. They were one of the best vacation spots made by the people of Sol, and some were, in fact, settlers from Sol!
Numerous soldiers and guards began to confess to Cara.
Rumors among the soldiers only knew the appearance of Cara. Some of the men in the town had reported a beautiful cat burglar, but there was no solid proof about her.
Only a few members of the guards have ever seen this beautiful woman. She moved into the Mist and used her charms and bribes to make these guards not report about her. And even when the reports of a woman snooping and stealing items were in town, the guards that knew kept denying it.
But now, a group of cultivators had managed to traverse the Mist. And they had children and several beautiful maidens within the team.
This forced those who had met Cara to report the truth actively.
With the reports coming in together, the words of Dyne now seemed even more truthful. Dyne knew Cara and spoke of a special artifact that made one easily travel in the Mist. And the guards confirmed this secret to be true.
Other than that, another factor that proved these men weren’t controlled by the madness of the Mist. There was Tetsu.
Tetsu was delighted to find the Biron missionaries sent here from the Monastery! Many of them were peers with Tetsu, and all called out to Tetsu.
The Biron Monks had a good reputation within the group as they fought to protect the town from the beast that attacked the city.
These respectable monks even saw Tetsu as their superior!
Dyne then used the final ace he knew would make the townsfolk love him. He made the Slimes under their control to play around.
The charms of this lovable mound of moving clay turn the serious and almost scary atmosphere lighter by letting people ride it. At first, only the kids were interested, but soon, many more joined in.
The Slimes quickly became powerful and even began to perform various tricks that entertained the group.
Dyne was still waiting for the village to complete the discussion of their past life.
Agumon was very popular with the kids. However, scyther drew curious stares from several swordsmen in the village.
The numerous young dinosaurs were also brought out, and trades were made to feed these small beasts.
The Serus Grim, Godhand, and even Rena’s Vera were also now approached by the people of Vidna.
“Amazing. They welcomed us without any struggle…” Gala watched as the villagers moved around. There were numerous powerful warriors in town. The townsfolk easily defended the city from the numerous monster hordes that attacked as they had serus and used it to create devastating attacks that could easily kill the beasts that approached.
“The Mist has not affected them yet. This place would have been a very different place.” Dyne chuckled as he recalled how the three Ra-Seru Heroes would arrive in Vidna and be ignored by the townsfolk.
“I guess Cara’s visits were so common in the future that the townsfolk got so used to it that when Vahn and the rest arrived, they simply thought it was common. But these aren't the only factor.” Dyne guessed, and he closed his eyes.
He could sense a strange power in the air.
“So it really is there. Dohati’s power is in the air.” Dyne felt it.
Jaden and Chad glanced at Dyne as they could feel a strange sensation in the area.
“You sensed it too, right?” Dyne chuckled.
“Master Dyne… What is this?” Jaden asked.
“The leader has created a Mist Generator northwest of this region. The leader knew that if he tried to marshal an army to attack Vidna, he would lose a lot of men. So he decided to use this very faint power of leaking a strange drug that was slowly causing the heads of the people here to become more vain and selfish. I think within a year or so, the people of Vidna would start to attack and turn against each other and will all be locked in their activities.” Dyne explained.
“What cruel magic!” Chad frowned.
“Don’t worry about it. We’re here now, and we can save this village!” Dyne chuckled.
Soon a knock was heard on the door where Dyne and his group stayed.
“Dyne Valiant.” A bearded old man who was the village leader appeared. Next to him was another old man that was slouching.
“That ought to be Danpas…” Dyne quietly identified the character who saved the residents when the windmills broke down.
Dyne gave a respectful bow to the highest official within the city.
“Elders of Vidna! I am here to tell you a horrifying truth! The Geothermal energy that powers Windmill is in danger! We have to save it!” Dyne decided to bring out the news, which would make the villagers take Dyne seriously.
“What?!” The group shouted as they heard Dyne’s claim.
Dyne couldn’t hide his smile as he knew he had managed to draw the attention of everyone with those words.
