One Piece: Rise of the Synthesis Pirate

Chapter 8: Pirate Street: The Hunt Begins

Goa Kingdom Central Street

This is the busiest area in the entire Goa Kingdom, where countless merchants pass through daily, buying and selling goods to exchange for funds.

However, near the edge of Central Street lies a corridor known as "Pirate Street."

Every day, numerous fearsome pirates gather here.

It's said that a pirate with a bounty exceeding 100 million berries once caused a major disturbance here, even alarming the Navy, who spared no effort to capture him.

Since then, the Navy rarely patrols this area, making it a haven for pirate activities.

"This is Pirate Street? Doesn't seem that special," said Yega.

Dressed in black and cloaked, he walked through Pirate Street.

The sides were lined with vendors, seemingly permanent merchants.

There were also entertainment establishments, taverns, and gambling houses everywhere.

"Let's pick this one."

Yega casually selected a tavern and entered.

The moment he stepped inside, a deafening cacophony filled the air, making his eardrums thrum.

"So it's true, everyone inside is a pirate."

A casual glance confirmed his thoughts.

Pirates of all kinds were laughing loudly, drinking heartily, and boasting about their exploits of looting, arson, and murder.

"So many pirates, but which one has the highest bounty?"

Yega wasn't interested in wasting time on pirates without a decent bounty. He approached the counter and tapped it lightly.

"Flame Ale, please."

Having spent so much time at Maggie's tavern, Yega was aware of certain secrets.

In almost every region, "underground intelligence organizations" operated under the guise of taverns.

If you wanted information, you could ask the tavern staff. As long as you could pay, almost any information about the area was accessible.

"Here's your Flame Ale, sir," the bartender said, handing him a fiery red beer with actual flames flickering on top.

"I have some questions," Yega said, flicking a silver coin onto the counter.

"Ask away, sir." The bartender's eyes lit up at the sight of the coin and leaned in closer.

"I need the bounty information on all pirates in Pirate Street. Name your price."

The bartender gave Yega a knowing glance, immediately understanding his intentions. But he quickly smiled.

"No problem, but this will cost you…"

"One gold coin. Is that enough?"

"Absolutely. One moment, please!" The bartender retreated into a back room.

Gold and silver coins were hard-earned currency for Yega, accumulated through selling the meat of numerous hunted beasts. He had saved them precisely for such a moment.

Soon, the bartender returned, carrying a thick package.

"Here you go, sir."

Yega opened it, revealing a stack of bounty posters.

"Thanks. Got a room?" Yega tossed two coins—one gold for the intel and one silver for a room.

"Here's your key. Room 3056 upstairs," the bartender replied promptly.

Yega grabbed the key and his package, then headed upstairs.

Once inside his room, he sat down, pulled out the stack of bounty posters, and began flipping through them.

"3,000 berries? That's too little. Not even worth more than a few beasts."

"25,000 berries? Acceptable, but not worth the effort."

"140,000 berries? Decent, but still a waste of time to search for him."

Growing impatient, Yega tossed all bounty posters with rewards under one million berries into the trash.

Only posters with bounties over one million remained.

"I need a million for the ship. Plus, I'll need supplies for the journey, which won't come cheap. And if I dock somewhere without pirates, I won't have income. Better stockpile more funds—at least three million berries."

"Actually, forget it. To avoid money troubles, I'll just target one pirate with a bounty of over ten million berries."

He discarded all posters with bounties under ten million berries. Three remained:

12 million berries.18 million berries.26 million berries.

"I'll start with whoever I find first!"

Memorizing their faces and bounties, Yega rubbed the posters together at lightspeed, causing them to catch fire and burn to ash.

Meanwhile, the tavern downstairs grew lively again.

A dense crowd parted to create an open space.

Two pirates, their faces flushed with rage, stood toe-to-toe, swords drawn.

Fights like these were common in Pirate Street, where tempers flared over the slightest provocation. Violence and death were routine.

Spectators cheered, drinking and enjoying the show as the two pirates clashed.

"Hoha, Caro! You're representing our 'Scar' Pirate Crew. Don't embarrass us!"

A burly man with a thick beard shouted from the sidelines, his voice booming over the din.

"Scar Pirate Crew? That must be Scar Walker, their captain."

"No wonder he's so arrogant! Scar Walker has a bounty of 12 million berries!"

"But don't forget his opponent. That's the Evil Fang Pirate Crew's member! Their captain, Evil Fang Garcia, has an 18 million berry bounty—600,000 more than Scar Walker!"

"Heh, this is gonna be a show. Two million-berry pirates duking it out in the middle of Pirate Street? Rare sight!"

The room buzzed with excitement, some even placing bets on the outcome.

In the corner, Yega listened in, a cruel smile curling his lips.

"12 million and 18 million in one place? Perfect. That's 30 million berries right there!"
