Refusing My God’s Advances

Chapter 51: Brother Complex Incoming!

I was standing alone in the meadow, not sure how to reply to Danielle's voice in my head. I was also trying to figure out why I could only hear it in my head, and not out loud. Then I remembered I had put the communication device that Daryle gave me.

"How long are you just going to ignore me?" Danielle asked in my head, and I summoned the device to my hand.

"Umm, hello?" I asked, feeling kind of stupid for having to phrase things like that.

"So, are you ready to see why I am the number one in Reshan?" Danielle asked, but I frowned at this, not liking where this was going.

"Umm, how am I going to see if you are all the way, wherever you are?" I asked, but then I heard an ominous bass sound coming from above. It was a deep, rumbling sound that vibrated the air and the ground as if a giant beast was approaching.

I looked up to see a massive flying warship covered in blue, red, and gold. The thing was so alien to me that I could only look up at it in awe. If I had to compare it to something it would be like taking a spaceship, building it into a boat, and then deciding to fly with it.

The reason why I assumed it was a warship was because of the various cannons and magical runes adorning its hull. As it descended towards the meadow, I could see that it had a knight in gold as its insignia on its sails.

The ship landed gracefully a short distance away, and the gangplank lowered to the ground. A figure stepped off the ship, and my eyes widened as I recognized Danielle's appearance. She had long, flowing blueish-green hair, and deep blue eyes, and wore a regal outfit that seemed to shimmer with magical energy.

"Welcome to Emberfall, Leon," Danielle greeted me, her voice echoing in my head. "I've been waiting for this moment."

"Uh, thanks. I didn't expect such a grand entrance," I replied, feeling a bit overwhelmed.

"Grand entrance? This is just a simple transport vessel," Danielle dismissed, waving her hand casually. "But enough of that. Where is my darling brother?!"

"Your darling brother? Oh, you mean Daryle. He's around here somewhere," I replied, gesturing vaguely towards the meadow.

"He's here? Excellent! I was worried he might have run off or gotten into trouble. It's not easy being the only responsible one in the family," Danielle sighed, and I raised an eyebrow.

"The only responsible one? What does that make you, then?" I asked, teasingly.

"I'm the brilliant, charming, and powerful older sister, of course! Responsibility is overrated," Danielle declared with a playful smirk.

"Right, got it," I chuckled, realizing that Danielle and I were probably going to have some interesting interactions.

As Daryle approached, Danielle's eyes lit up, and she practically skipped over to him. "Daryle, my dear brother! How have you been? Did you miss me terribly?"

Daryle, on the other hand, looked slightly annoyed. "Danielle, I see you've brought the entire warship with you. I hope you're not planning any unnecessary trouble."

"Trouble? Perish the thought, dear brother. I merely wanted to visit and check on you," Danielle replied, innocently batting her eyelashes.

Daryle crossed his arms. "I know you too well, Danielle. There's always something up your sleeve."

"Oh, Daryle, you wound me with your lack of trust. Anyway, I've come to see Leon. Isn't that right, Leon?" Danielle turned her attention to me with a mischievous grin.

"I mean, I suppose so, but you can spend time with your brother if you want. I was just going to set up my printer and see what I could do with it to get things started,'' I explained, and the color drained from Daryle's face.

"But brother! I have some things I need to do! You know! THINGS!" Daryle pleaded with a look of betrayal painted across his face.

"As much as that sounds marvelous, I will be sleeping in the same bed as my brother tonight, so I can have him all to myself then!" Danielle declared, and poor Daryle looked like he was about to have a mental breakdown.

"Wait, what? Sleeping in the same bed?" I exclaimed, feeling a mixture of surprise and confusion.

"Oh, absolutely. We have so much catching up to do, and what better way to bond than sharing a cozy bed?" Danielle winked at me, and I could see Daryle visibly cringing.

"Brother, I beg of you, please reconsider! This is a dire situation!" Daryle pleaded, but Danielle just laughed.

"Come now, Daryle. It's just one night. I promise I won't bite... much," she added with a playful smirk.

Daryle turned to me, desperation in his eyes. "Leon, you have to help me out here. I can't share a bed with her. She'll drive me insane."

I couldn't help but chuckle at the sibling dynamic. "Her driving you insane might be the least of your problems!" I laughed but then sighed. Daryle had been good to me, and his sister clearly had some unhealthy habits that could be taken the wrong way.

Hell, there was no other way to see it other than a sister trying to make sexual advances on her brother. I suddenly understood why he was so scared of her, and decided I should take one for the team.

"Fine," I said and looked at Danielle. "Leave your brother alone for now, and come with me, but get rid of that massive ship. It is an eyesore on my breathtaking view."

"Excuse me?!" Danielle demanded, marching over to get in my face with a finger up. "Just who do you think you are?!"

As Danielle stormed over, I waved for Daryle to disappear. He bowed rapidly and then vanished as Danielle reached me. She was much shorter than me with teal hair that reminded me of tropical water on an island beach. Her face was filled with indignation, and I couldn't help but find her reaction amusing.

"Relax, Danielle. I was just joking about the view. Your ship is fine," I said, and she crossed her arms.

"So, you let my brother escape, so you better have something interesting to show me!" She growled, but it was kind of cute.
