Chapter 14: Chapter 14 Necromancer

Still he continued forward since he didn't have any other choice, but soon he approached the end of the path but there was a door at the end.

Raze pushed the door opened and stepped inside.

He stepped into the dimly lit room, the air thick with a damp, musty scent.

The stone walls around him were rough and two large pillars were positioned at each side of the room, Raze walked forward his footsteps echoing in the silence.

In the center of the room, a large stone pedestal stood.

Atop the pedestal lay a massive, stone slab, its surface covered in strange, swirling markings, it looked ancient.

The symbols on the stone were glowing, shifting slowly as if alive.

Raze couldn't take his eyes off them, drawn to the pulsing light.

His heart raced as he approached, he had no idea what it was but he knew that this stone was no ordinary object.

No one had ever talked about seeing something like this, he knew there were skeleton dungeons but no body mentioned a large stone with shifting symbols.

He walked till he finally got to where it was, Raze looked around first observation his surroundings before reaching out.

Raze reached out, his hand trembling slightly as he touched the glowing stone.

The moment his fingertips made contact, a sudden pulse of energy shot through his body.

The symbols on the stone flared brighter, the light spreading across the room as if the stone had come to life.

A deep hum echoed in his ears, growing louder until it drowned out everything else. His vision blurred, the room around him twisting and warping and he could feel himself losing consciousness.

Raze felt his feet leave the ground as the light consumed him completely. For a moment, there was nothing—just silence and blinding white light.

Then, it was gone.

Raze stumbled forward, his chest heaving with his laboring breath.

His hand reached out, but the cool stone that had been beneath his fingertips just a moment before was no longer there. He blinked rapidly, trying to make sense of what had just occurred.

The world around him felt wrong, instead of cold, damp walls, he found himself standing in the middle of an open, vast expanse.

Above, the sky was an unnerving blood-red, casting a strange glow across the landscape.

In the far distance, black mountains reached up to the heavens, their peaks tearing through the air as if twisted in some fashion.

Even the air felt heavy and oppressive.

Raze couldn't make sense of it. A moment ago, he had been in a skeleton dungeon and the last thing he remembered was touching the stone with shifting symbols.

Now, he was here, atop this mountain.

He looked down.

His heart skipped a beat and his jaws dropped.

Before him sprawled tens of thousands of them, skeletons, their empty eyes bright with a fierce light burning in them, armed-swords in hand and shields in the other, chanting.

Their voice grew into a deafening roar that seemed to bounce around and reverberate backward.

A noise like that made Raze stumble a step backward when as more and more questions cross his mind.

Suddenly, a voice cut through the mayhem, a voice so cold that it stayed him where he stood. "My lord, your army has been assembled."

Raze's gaze dropped to the ground, where a single skeleton was kneeling before him, its entire body marked with strange symbols, glowing dull against its ashen skin. It was different than the others: proud, almost.

"My lord?" Raze whispered to himself, his voice barely audible in the thunderous sound around him. "Who. who is your lord?"

The question hung in the air, but before he could make sense of it, a roar, primal and deafening, shattered the moment.

Raze spun around in shock.

To his left, looming over the battlefield, was a dragon, a dragon of pure bone, its skeletal body mirroring the blood-red hue of the sky above. Its eyes were glowing, burning bright with deep, fiery crimson.

The dragon opened its mouth and let out a roar so loud that the earth beneath Raze's feet began to shudder. The sheer power of the sound almost knocked him to his knees.

The other and, indeed strange thing that happened was that this dragon lowered his head when it turned towards him.

Soon a figure came right out of a hollow space and began walking in his direction.

The figure's face was eerily familiar. It was him—or, rather, it was someone who looked exactly like him.

They stood the same height, shared the same black hair, but the figure was draped in a long black robe, and in one hand, held a staff with a skull at its tip.

The figure's green eyes locked onto Raze's, and for a moment, he felt like he was staring into his own soul.

Raze's legs watered as fear took hold of him. His breath caught in his throat as he stared at a mirror yet strange version of himself.

The figure stepped forward toward the dragon, resting a foot upon its skeletal body in a commanding manner.

The dragon did nothing but bowed its head, and the figure easily swung up onto it. As the dragon unfolded its huge wings, it took to the air.

Raze was frozen, his head spiraling.

The figure, his doppelganger, was now flying away, leaving him standing alone at the pinnacle of the mountain.

The wind was howling around him, the skeleton army still chanting in the background. He couldn't move. It was as if his body had been bound to that spot, his mind numb.

And then, his eyes fluttered open.

Raze found himself on the ground of the dungeon, he quickly stood up looking around to make sure he was alone then he turned around to look at the stone but it was gone.

He had no idea what just happened, now he was back in the dungeon.

Only the large stone pedestal remained, the other stone with the shifting symbols on it was gone and an information appeared in front of him.
