Superpowers in the Marvel World

With the boat speeding at full throttle, a distance of one kilometer barely felt like a stretch. In no time at all, Alex steered the boat to the shore and leapt onto the beach.

"Alright, since the enemy is already prepared, I guess I can't just bypass them!"

Alex scratched his head and directly made his way toward the dam at the center of the island.

That was the core of the entire base, and large numbers of soldiers were lying in ambush along the route leading there. Since Alex had already decided to strike straight for the heart of the base, he naturally headed there without hesitation!

With his "thousand-mile eye" ability, Alex could see everything clearly, from high-tech equipment to low-intelligence traps. The only way he would fall into their schemes was if he walked straight into them himself!

"Captain, the traps we set are useless!"

Seeing that Alex seemed to know the exact locations of the traps—because, in fact, he did—he easily avoided all the ones they had painstakingly set. A soldier, unable to keep his frustration in check, immediately contacted the captain overseeing this operation.

All their hard work had been in vain. The captain, just as upset, thought for a moment before activating the communicator to contact the operation's overall commander, who was monitoring the situation from inside the base.

"Officer Shi, what should we do now?"

The voice of Shi Cui Ke, calm as always, came through the communicator. "Mutants possess strange abilities. His power might be related to avoiding danger or something of that nature! Since the traps are useless, you should move forward and capture him."

The captain, already feeling the pressure, hurriedly asked, "What if he resists?"

"What I need is test material," Shi Cui Ke responded coldly, sidestepping the question, before abruptly hanging up the communicator.

"So basically, he just wants him alive, huh? Typical cold-blooded Shi!" The squad leader grinned, switching the communicator to a different channel. "The higher-ups said we can shoot as long as he's alive!"

The special sedative darts in their guns were highly effective, capable of taking down several elephants in one shot. Even more remarkably, these darts didn't cause the same kinds of injuries as normal bullets; as long as they didn't hit the head directly, they would maximize the chances of capturing the target alive.

In other words, if Alex was shot, even if he were as strong as a T. rex, he would have no choice but to collapse and be restrained by these soldiers!

"Understood!"

The soldiers lying in ambush immediately made their preparations, loading their guns and waiting for the captain's order. Once they received the signal, they would swarm forward to subdue the target.

"Finally, it's time to make a move!"

Having seen the actions of the hidden soldiers, Alex smirked disdainfully. His "spirit energy" stirred within him, and a deep red cross appeared in his eyes.

The "Extermination Eyes" were activated, and the battle was about to begin!

"Vvvrrr~~~"

At that moment, a familiar sound reached the ears of the soldiers, growing closer and louder. Looking up, they saw a helicopter rapidly approaching the island!

"A helicopter? I wasn't informed anyone would be coming to the island!"

Shi Cui Ke, watching from the base's command center, felt a sudden sense of unease. He quickly zoomed in on the helicopter with the monitoring equipment, only to be shocked by the appearance of someone he recognized all too well.

— Wolverine!

Shi Cui Ke's old acquaintance turned around to speak to someone inside the helicopter, then jumped out, deploying a parachute as he descended toward the island.

"Damn it! That bastard chose this moment to return?!"

Shi Cui Ke cursed furiously, his mind racing. He quickly issued an order, "All teams, move out! More enemies are coming to the base. You must capture that young man as soon as possible!"

"Yes, sir!"

The soldier captain, though unaware of the situation, swiftly accepted the order. "Team One, open fire and suppress him. Team Two, move in to capture the target alive!"

"Team One, understood!"

"Team Two, understood!"

As soon as the orders were given, a squad of soldiers jumped out from their hiding spots, opening fire with submachine guns toward Alex's surroundings and lower body, trying to suppress his movement. At the same time, soldiers skilled in hand-to-hand combat sprang forward, charging toward Alex with strange footwork.

"This is what a real fight should be like!"

Before he finished speaking, Alex's figure suddenly disappeared from the range of the bullets with a "whoosh" sound, darting like a ghost toward the soldiers in Team Two who were skilled in close combat.

"So fast! Stop firing!"

Startled by Alex's explosive speed, the squad leader quickly ordered Team One to cease fire. Alex's speed had surpassed their expectations; firing randomly could hurt members of Team Two.

"You're the first!"

In an instant, Alex appeared beside one of the soldiers. Before the soldier could even react to his speed, Alex grabbed him by the neck and absorbed him into his Extermination Eyes with a faint hum.

"You bastard! Die!!"

Seeing his comrade absorbed into Alex's eyes, one soldier's rage flared, and he drew the dagger strapped to his thigh. He stabbed fiercely toward Alex's heart.

Unfortunately, his courage, though commendable, was no match for Alex's physical abilities. It was like an ant trying to challenge an elephant. Alex easily grabbed his wrist, leaving behind a comment on his courage before unceremoniously absorbing him into his eyes.

"Damn, how is this guy's ability so strange?!"

The captain, seeing two skilled soldiers lost in such a brief confrontation, was both horrified and furious. He urgently ordered, "Fall back, don't let him catch you!"

"Ah!" "Ah!" "Ah!" "Ah!"...

In the split second after he gave the order, the communicator emitted several more screams as soldiers who hadn't managed to dodge were absorbed into Alex's Extermination Eyes, turning into pure spirit energy.

"Damn it! His speed is too fast!"

"Keep your distance! Use handguns and submachine guns to suppress him!"

"Careful... ah!"

The defensive line of Team Two, as fragile as paper, was instantly torn apart by Alex, causing the soldiers to panic. Some tried firing their handguns but accidentally shot their comrades. Others sprayed their submachine guns but ended up turning their teammates into Swiss cheese. Chaos erupted—shouting, swearing, and gunfire filled the air!

"His speed is incredible, almost like teleportation!" Shi Cui Ke marveled as he watched the scene on the monitor, completely indifferent to the soldiers' deaths. "These useless fools can't even capture him. The sabretooth tiger is still meant for dealing with Wolverine... Hm... Looks like I'll need to use Weapon Eleven!"

With that thought, Shi Cui Ke immediately made up his mind. He quickly left his office and rushed to the secure area where Weapon Eleven was kept.

"As soon as I get my hands on Weapon Twelve, it'll be time to officially go to war with mutants! This time, I'll wipe out all mutants! I'll destroy every last mutant in the world!!"

Meanwhile, on the other side of the island, Wolverine, parachute and all, was hanging from a tree branch. Calmly, he used his claws to slice through the parachute's straps and flipped to the ground.

"Strange, no one's trying to stop me?"

After a careful scan of his surroundings, Wolverine found it odd that no enemies were in sight. "With how much they value the island, they shouldn't have missed me! What's going on here?"

"Never mind. I've got a job to do!"

After pondering for a moment without any answers, Wolverine shrugged off his doubts and proceeded toward the base. This time, he was here to make up for past mistakes. No matter what, failure was not an option. If enemies blocked his path, he would fight them. If there were no enemies, he would go in without hesitation. Wolverine was fully committed to his mission!

"Shi Cui Ke, I'm coming for you!"

As thoughts of his fallen comrades and innocent people flashed in his mind, Wolverine's hatred for Shi Cui Ke only grew stronger. His steps grew larger and more determined...
