Superpowers in the Marvel World

Alex approached the target at incredible speed, smashing through the closed gates with brute force as he passed. The shrill blaring of alarms inside the base didn't distract him in the least.

"Tatatatatatat..."

Countless bullets whizzed through the air, streaking past Alex as they struck the ground and metallic equipment around him, causing brilliant sparks to fly.

In the face of this somewhat out-of-control situation, General Monsen's patience was wearing thin. He immediately mobilized most of the soldiers stationed at the island base to join in on the hunt for Alex.

With Monsen's order, within moments, one or two hundred fully-armed soldiers arrived, teaming up with the previous ones to track Alex down. At the same time, snipers, including three elite ones, positioned themselves at the front, taking advantageous positions and calmly waiting for the perfect opportunity to shoot.

The sniper rifles in their hands were large-caliber anti-material weapons, capable of piercing even a tank with a single shot. As long as they got the right chance, they were certain to catch Alex off guard.

One shot, one kill—this is what makes a real sniper!

"These soldiers have some serious mental fortitude, huh? They're not afraid of me at all!"

Alex thought to himself, even as he quickly darted through the base. Suddenly, his pupils constricted, and without warning, he leaped backward, spinning mid-air before landing smoothly on the ground.

"Boom!"

Just as Alex jumped back, the ground beneath him exploded, a crater the size of a bowl opening up, sending dirt and rocks flying, with curling wisps of smoke rising.

—Another sniper!

A chill ran down Alex's spine. He knew this was the work of a sniper, so he didn't dare to slack off. He quickly changed his pace, zigzagging in unpredictable patterns. While his superhuman reflexes and danger-sensing ability allowed him to narrowly avoid the sniper's shots, he wasn't willing to take any chances—who knew how long his senses would stay sharp?

"This feeling of narrowly dodging death, always on the edge of meeting it, is really thrilling. Now this is what real combat is! This is the man's ultimate love!"

With a wicked grin, Alex's movements grew even faster.

"Damn it, he dodged again!"

The sniper cursed under his breath, frustrated, then quickly rose to move—his position had lost its strategic value, and he needed to relocate fast.

"Even our best snipers can't take him down. This guy is seriously powerful!"

"Is this what they call a 'mutant'? How amazing!"

"God, humans are no match for them!"

Seeing his soldiers wavering, the captain quickly stood up to rally their morale. "Don't panic! No matter how powerful he is, he's still just one person. If we all fire together, we can take him down!"

"Right, the captain's right!"

With the captain's words of encouragement, the soldiers regained a bit of their resolve and continued to pursue Alex, firing bullets and rockets at the shadow ahead!

At the most hidden part of the base, the secretary hurriedly reported to General Monsen. "General! The enemy is heading rapidly toward Lab #4, our soldiers can't stop him!"

"Order the outer forces to continue the pursuit and coordinate with the soldiers stationed at the lab to eliminate the enemy. We must destroy him! This battle will determine their loyalty to the nation!"

General Monsen was agitated as he gave orders to his secretary. Then, he asked, "Where is Major Schuyck? Why haven't I seen him in the command center?"

"Well…"

The secretary hesitated for a moment before finally speaking, under the stern gaze of General Monsen. "Major Schuyck went to the room holding Weapon #11 ten minutes ago!"

"That bastard Schuyck!"

Anger flashed across General Monsen's face. "Weapon #11's mental state is unstable, if something happens…" He suddenly stopped himself. "No, I have to stop him!"

With that, he pushed the secretary aside and, with two soldiers, headed out to find Schuyck.

On the other side, Wolverine, intent on finding Schuyck for revenge, encountered an unexpected figure—a woman, someone he thought was dead—his lover, "Silver Fox"!

"Kara, why… why are you…?"

Seeing his supposedly dead lover again, Logan's face showed no joy. He stared in disbelief at the woman before him, feeling as though the whole world was betraying him.

"Logan, I'm sorry!"

"Silver Fox" Kara looked into Logan's eyes, moved her lips slightly, but ultimately lowered her head and sighed in resignation.

Even though she had reasons for deceiving Logan, a lie was still a lie, no matter how justified it seemed. It could never erase the cruel truth.

"Sorry?"

Logan gave a bitter smile, silently staring at her, waiting for an explanation.

He needed an explanation!

Before Kara could speak, another voice interrupted from the side. "My brother, I've told you before, this woman isn't worth all that you've sacrificed for her!"

"Victor!"

Logan turned toward the voice, seeing his older brother, Victor Creed, step out from around a corner. His eyes flicked between Kara and Victor before he let out a grim laugh. "So, you two were in on this from the start! What a fool I've been, letting you both play me like this!"

"No, Logan, listen to me…"

Seeing the look on her face, Kara fully understood his feelings. She hurried forward, trying to explain everything, but before she could finish, Victor deliberately interrupted her. "Logan, you're right. You are a fool. This woman was nothing more than a pawn of Schuyck's to manipulate you!"

"You…"

"To make you accept the subsequent experiments, Schuyck sent this woman to get close to you, to meet, to fall in love, and then ultimately to die—everything was part of the plan from the start!" Victor said with a grin.

Kara, is this true? Logan asked, looking at his lover.

"…Yes, but…"

After a brief pause, Kara admitted to what Victor said. Before she could explain further, Victor spoke up again. "Logan, my brother, the only one who truly needs you in this world is me. Come on, if we join forces, we can have everything we want!" With that, Victor extended his hand and slowly walked toward Logan.

"Victor, you…"

Logan's face was complex as he looked at his older brother. He couldn't believe how terrible this day had turned out. Not only had he learned that the woman he loved was an undercover agent who had deceived him, but he also discovered that his brother, Victor, still wanted him back by his side. Deception and sincerity—the whole situation was a bitter irony!

"Logan, don't listen to his lies…"

Kara nervously watched Logan, but neither Logan nor Victor paid her any attention.

"Come on, Logan, you know I've always been waiting for you!" Victor's voice was filled with confidence as he continued to approach, his right hand slowly reaching out, as though waiting for Logan's response.

However—

What Victor got was Logan's refusal. He shook his head. "Victor, you know I can never work with you again. We've got a lot of scores to settle!"

"Is that so? What a pity!"

Victor's smile didn't falter. He didn't retract his hand, as if Logan's rejection was exactly what he expected. "We're brothers, we should be fighting side by side. Since you're so stubborn, I guess I'll just have to do my duty as the older brother—and show you what the world is really like!"

Before he could finish, Victor's right hand suddenly shot out with razor-sharp bone claws, aiming straight for Logan's face. "Clang!" The unexpected attack was blocked just in time by Logan's own metallic claws!

"Victor, you're still as despicable as ever!"

Logan said with an expression of "no surprise," his claws locking firmly against Victor's bone claws, his right foot kicking hard into Victor's chest.

"Heh heh!"

Victor chuckled, his left hand forming its own bone claw. With a swift motion, he forced Logan's right leg back while his left claw swiped upward, knocking away Logan's claws.

The two stood in a cautious standoff, the fight between brothers ready to erupt at any moment…
