The Married Life Of Immortals

Chapter 147: Gilbrax, The Endless

Bane's eyes went wide as a second cut appeared in his chest, but he was not able to see anything in front of himself. Not even when he activated his mana sense, which meant that this person was on another level entirely.

'How the hell did he appear behind me again?' Bane demanded, but Onyx was just as lost as he was.

'Something about this person is very familiar. The name is slightly different, but I think this being is the Endless Calamity. A being created to defy the laws of rebirth, but this creation cursed the creator. Gilbert was a secret lover to a brilliant magical scientist who was also the ruler of his world, a Supreme One.'

More cuts appeared on Bane's body as he listened, but he mostly ignored them as also considered how to deal with the mosquito. While Gilbrax strikes were impossible for Bane to currently sense, this pathetic amount of damage could be healed infinitely due to the demonic energy in the air that he breathed in.

'A Supreme One? So she was screwing this weirdo, and got caught?' Bane asked as he absorbed the bodies of all the demons that were currently below him in the building he was standing on.

'Ceres was screwing him, but they didn't get caught, at first. No, there is just some disparity between Supreme Ones, and lower existences like you and the being attacking you. To fix this and essentially give them both eternal happiness, Ceres modified Gilbert's body until even his mind was copied. Doing this, Ceres not only created a being that broke the chains of rebirth, but one that should have been able to defy even the Great Ones.'

"That last part is pretty clear with how weak this guy is," Bane said and then yawned, punching to the side.

His fist seemed to hit open air, but the sound of impact echoed out in the city. There were also two large booms that shook the entire city as Gilbrax went flying out into the city, and crashed through the wall of the palace.

The man in black was no longer smiling as he stood up from the crater he was sitting in. His eyes were wide with surprise, and he could feel how close he came to death in that last strike.

Bane didn't bother moving, but he did nod at the palace that was easy to spot from the roof he was on as a few blue, red, and yellow demon hearts floated on small black flames around him. Bane focused, and they all were sucked into one of the rings that covered every finger.

"So, what happened after that?" Bane asked as he held his fingers in front of himself like a picture frame. "Man, do you know how much simpler it would be to just create a massive Tier 3 Gravity Well over the entire palace? I could just turn them all to paste and be done with it."

'We have already been over this. If the demon dies, their personality's get switched around and they lose all previous memories. Even if you put the girls and Ragna back together, they will lose everything they have learned, save Zerynthia. Anyways, Ceres modified her own body, but had to ask the help of another Supreme One. One that was young, and seemingly trustable," Onyx explained, and Bane snorted.

"You can't be serious? She asked Guardian for help? Just how stupid could a person known as a Supreme One be?!"

'She was only known as Guardia at the time, and her treatment of me was never public. Anyways, Guardia found out secretly what she had been planning, but still did the operation. Though, once she was done, Guardia disabled Gilbert, messed with his body, and then used the Mythical tier spell, Broken Fate on both of them. After she was done, she killed both of them.'

Bane shook his head and sighed. "Sounds like something that sadistic bitch would do if anything you have told me is to be used as a reference. Still, that clearly isn't the end of it, right?"

'If they both could have just died, that probably would have been better for everyone. The spell, Broken Fate, causes Ceres to be born twenty years before Gilbert and to live always in poverty. When Gilbert is spat out into the world in his full body, Ceres will always rise to fame and fortune while he looks for her, but she is fated to be killed before his eyes every time. No Matter how many times they die, they are forced to keep repeating to constant rebirth and horrible death. This makes him destroy the world, and after over thirty of them were destroyed, the Great Ones decided to lock him up,' Onyx finished, and Bane nodded as he walked towards the edge of the roof.

"So this guy is a masochist that also wants to destroy everything, huh? Why does it feel like I am just meeting more and more people like myself these days?" Bane laughed, but Onyx did not.

'That is no laughing matter, and we both know why. You are a broken person, but we don't really have time to worry about that, as Gilbrax is coming back.'

"Yes the mosquito is back," Bane chuckled, but then narrowed his eyes. "I am not broken, I just have jagged edges."

In the next instant, Bane's body vanished in a puff of smoke, and appeared high in the air above the palace. More cuts appeared on Bane's body as he made a cloud out of demonic energy to land on, floating high above the city of Onarousa. Ignoring the cuts, Bane laid down on the black cloud and picked his nose.

"Are you done yet? I have things to be doing, and you're pretty annoying, but I don't hate you. So, fuck off and I might considered taking you out of this place," Bane said casually, flicking a booger.

The cuts suddenly stopped, but Onyx started to yell within Bane's head, making him wince.

'Did you not hear anything I just said?! This thing is a psychopathic mad man that wants nothing more that to see the world burn! If you bring him into your world, a Ceres will be created and the cycle will continue!'

Before Bane could retort, Gilbrax appeared on his black cloud, squatted down and leaning over Bane.

"So, you are willing to take me with you? How did you know I wanted to go?" Gilbrax asked as his mechanical eyes scanned over Bane's face as he continued to dig for gold.

Ignoring the question, Bane asked, "What would you do if I could break that nasty spell on you and your woman? What is it worth to you? Just how far would you go to be able to enjoy a life with the woman you love?"

The maniacal face hovering above his froze, and Bane smiled viciously. "Yeah, I know about this Ceres, and the spell on you, but I am going to be honest, I am at least a 1000 years too early to have a sliver of understanding of the mess cast on you."

Gilbrax's frozen face finally turned into a frown. "You had me at the start, but what good is your help if Ceres dies of old age before you can break this? Why would either of us trust each other in that sense? If you know this much, then you also must know why I am here, yes?"

Bane flicked a chunky gold nugget off his nail, and then waved his hand casually. "You will stay in line, of this I am sure. As for the learning, and time, don't worry about it. The 1000 years is more of an expression, but none of it really matters compared to my simple threat. If you don't listen to me, and follow my orders like your life depends on it, I will go and find Ceres and make her one of my wives. Not only that, but I will lock your immortal ass in a room with a TV so you can watch how happy her life will be without you."

Bane's casual attitude vanished as he gave a wide smile, and the maniacal look in his eyes grew deeper. "If you are lucky, I might even let you out to play, but only if you behave, or I might get bored and destroy you. The same goes for Ceres, and no matter what, I will make sure you suffer far more than you even have before."

Gilbrax sat there for a long time, not moving an inch, and Bane was just about to sit up and ask what the hell he was thinking when the man started to laugh.

"You really are a monster among men, Human. Most demons aren’t nearly as bad as you seem to claim."

Bane rolled his eyes. "The pot calling the kettle black. Listen, dipshit, this isn't a request. If you were made to kill gods, then you are going to help me kill them. Not like it is something you shouldn't already want, right? You know who did this to you, right?"

Gilbrax's laughter suddenly stopped, and his eyes started to glow red. "You wish for me to fight Supreme Ones? Heh, what a great idea. I would have done so eventually anyways, but I really like that you have given me an excuse to kill him now."

"Good, now piss off and wait for me to go deal with the Empress," Bane growled, and pushed the metal man off his cloud, but he turned to smoke, reappearing on another spot on the cloud.

"You are really willing to take me with you after a simple threat?" Gilbrax asked with a smile filled with razor sharp metal teeth, but then suddenly screamed and his body started to be ripped apart.

This went on for thirty seconds as Bane used demonic energy to tear the man apart. When finished, Bane watched as the mess of plates, wires, and blood slowly started to rebuild itself into its original form.

"Are you done?" Bane asked once Gilbrax had fully reformed. "I told you to leave and wait, but you didn't listen. What do you think I should do about that?"

Gilbrax's maniacal face grew deeper, and he laughed again. "I love how strong you are! I can't wait to see the Supreme One that locked me up face against you! Oh, what fun!"

Bane kicked him off the cloud, but this time, Gilbrax disappeared in a puff of smoke and didn't come back.
