The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide

Episode 33: Parents Are Tough to Handle

The day after I refused to let Miria accompany me, I found myself writing a letter in my room.

To be honest, I really didn’t want to write it, and I was super reluctant, but I figured if I didn’t send it, things could get really annoying, so I reluctantly decided to write to Iris.

“All right. Is this good enough?”

Just as I finished the letter and was about to seal it, a maid knocked on the door and entered.

“Lord Lewis, Lady Fiera has arrived.”

“Got it. Please show her in.”

“As you wish.”

The maid bowed and left to get Fiera.

By the way, regarding Miria, she hadn’t come to my room since yesterday’s incident. It wasn’t because I told Father, but it seemed she had someone else cover for her.

In the end, I never conveyed to Father that I wanted to remove Miria from being exclusively assigned to me.

Considering my past life, it was quite likely that even if I dismissed her from that role, she would still find some way to accompany me to the academy for some reason.

While I waited, lost in thought, Fiera and the others knocked and entered once more.

“Good morning!”

“Yo! Good morning!”

I stood up from the desk where I had been writing the letter and tried to move to the nearby sofa, but Fiera approached me first.

“What were you doing?”

“I was writing a letter.”

“To Iris?”

“Correct. I can’t just go on this journey without saying anything.”

As I was about to hand the letter to the maid, Fiera took it from me and asked if she could look inside.

“Sure, but it’s nothing special.”

“Doesn’t matter.”

With that, Fiera took the letter out and began to read it.

“Can I borrow your pen?”

After she finished reading, Fiera looked up, demanding a pen.

Since I’d be in trouble if she wrote something, I hesitated to lend it to her. However, when she threatened to personally deliver the letter if I didn’t comply, I reluctantly agreed.

(I’m worried that if I let Fiera deliver it, something chaotic will happen.)

I recalled how the two of them had argued when I first introduced them and could only yield to this threat.

Fiera wrote something on the back of the letter and returned it to me, hiding the writing from view.

“Close it without looking at the contents.”

“What if I do?”

“I’ll go see Iris and tell her I’m El’s girlfriend.”

“That’s absolutely untrue!”

Exasperated by the whole situation, I sealed the letter just as she instructed and handed it to the maid.

“Ugh. I’m so tired already…”

“Take it easy.”

“…”

I couldn’t help but think about who was causing all this exhaustion, but saying it to her wouldn’t have any effect, so I sighed and gave up.

“Anyway, let’s go see Father and Mother.”

“Understood.”

Finally arriving at our original goal, we left the room with Fiera in tow.

We headed to the greenhouse, where a table and chairs had been prepared, and Father and Mother were waiting, already sipping tea.

“Thank you for waiting.”

“Don’t mention it.”

“It’s all right. Please take your seats, both of you.”

At Mother’s invitation, we took our seats as the servants placed the drinks and then stepped back.

“Fiera-chan, thank you for coming today.”

“No, thank you for inviting me!”

“The reason I asked Fiera to come today is that I wanted to properly ask her to take care of Lewis.”

Father straightened up, turned to Fiera, placed his hands on his knees, and bowed his head.

“As I said before, please take good care of Lewis. He’s a genius without any bias, but there’s something precarious about him.

It’s like he’s in a hurry to live. So, if he ever seems like he’s pushing himself too hard, please stop him.”

It seems like Father and Mother had realized that I didn’t have much interest in living and instead quietly hoped I would meet my end.

That’s probably why they felt more reassured with Fiera accompanying me than letting me go alone.

“I promise! I’ll protect El, even if it costs my life!”

Fiera looked determined as she gazed at them, but Mother, seeing this, stood up and gently hugged her.

“Fiera-chan, while I’m happy that you want to protect Lewis, we don’t want you to die! So, don’t ever say something like ‘even if it costs my life.’ When you come back, you must return together. Got it?”

“Understood.”

After that, Mother and Fiera seemed to have something they needed to discuss and moved a little farther away.

“Lewis.”

“Yes?”

Once it was just Father and me, he looked at me with a gentle expression, different from the serious one he had before.

“From now on, you’ll be traveling and learning many things. Among them, there might be painful moments or insurmountable difficulties. When that time comes, don’t hesitate to come back.

This is your home, and we are family. No matter what burden you bear, we will never abandon you.

So go comfortably. And come back safe.”

Those words from Father stirred feelings in my chest that I hadn’t felt in a long time.

(Ah, I’m feeling emotional right now.)

My family cares for me this deeply. Through the cycles of my life, these two were the ones who consistently thought about me till the end.

(I can’t really compete with these people.)

“I understand. When I return from my travels, I’ll make sure to share everything!”

“I’m looking forward to it.”

Father smiled and then turned to Mother and Fiera.

I too looked over at Mother and Fiera, conversing merrily, as I sipped some slightly lukewarm tea.

The next day, Fiera and I were seen off by my family and the household staff.

After that incident, Mother had asked Fiera to stay at the mansion because she still had a lot she wanted to discuss.

So, Fiera went back to the inn to get her belongings and then returned to the mansion to stay for the night.

“Take care, you two.”

“Don’t just watch out for injuries, but also take care of your health!”

“Yes!”

“Understood!”

After chatting briefly with them, I shared hugs with Father and Mother, and then I got ready, holding the magic bag given to me by Void.

“Then I’m off.”

“Take care!”

“Be safe!”

“Have a safe journey!”

After saying farewell to everyone, we donned our hoods and left in front of the mansion, heading toward the gate on the edge of the Duke’s territory.

By the way, Miria didn’t come to see us off. Apparently, she was feeling unwell and was resting in her room.

“El, are you okay?”

“Yeah. No problem. More importantly, let’s hurry up. I can’t wait for the adventure!”

Fiera seemed to think I’d feel lonely being apart from my family, but honestly, I didn’t feel that lonely at all.

After all, as long as I’m alive, I’ll get to see them again, and more than anything, I was thrilled to finally be going on a journey!

(I wonder what kind of formidable enemies are waiting for me. I’m really looking forward to it.)

With excitement bubbling in my chest about battling unseen foes, I left the Duke’s territory to head toward my first destination.
