Chapter 34
The Villainous Noble Who Kept Rewinding After Death: The Story Somehow Changed When I Committed Suicide
Chapter 34: Those Left Behind
This is a tale set about a week after Lewis and Fiera embarked on their journey.
Iris was diligently practicing her studies, etiquette, and dance as usual.
All of it was to avoid embarrassing her beloved fiancé, Lewis. And to continuously stand by him as his future wife.
Miria had lost her master to serve and had shattered. She was told she was worthless, that she was a hindrance, and her heart was rebuilt after being broken once.
In a strange direction that instilled fear in those around her. A mad, obsessive love.
This is a story about that love of theirs growing heavier still.
—Side Iris—
Morning. I woke up at my usual time and finished getting ready with the help of a maid.
I’ve never been good at mornings, but as a noble lady, I have to improve on my weaknesses little by little.
Besides, if I can become someone who wakes up early after marrying Lord Lewis, I’ll have more time to spend with him.
Realizing that, I couldn’t help but praise myself as a genius.
“Let’s do our best today!”
Recently, my routine consists of training in magic in the morning, followed by studying and etiquette practice in the afternoon.
It’s quite challenging, but with my future marriage to Lord Lewis and becoming a duchess, no amount of studying would be enough.
After being taught about magic power manipulation and spell casting techniques by my magic instructor in the training grounds, I returned to my room when one of the maids came in, holding a letter.
“Miss Iris, a letter has arrived from Lord Lewis.”
“Oh my! Is that true?!”
Having just returned to the mansion a few days ago, I hadn’t had the chance to write Lord Lewis yet, with reports for my father and mother and reconsidering what needed to be done in the future.
So, receiving a letter from Lord Lewis for the first time filled me with joy.
Hastily, I opened the seal and checked the contents, which first expressed concern for my health.
“Hehe. How delightful. Lord Lewis is thinking about me.”
Next, it mentioned that he had recently cleared an A-rank dungeon.
I was so surprised upon seeing that, I almost dropped the precious letter.
“That’s amazing! He’s already cleared an A-rank dungeon!”
While I’m not particularly well-versed in battles, I do understand how dangerous A-rank dungeons are.
“I’m so relieved that he’s safe!”
As I felt relief over Lord Lewis’s safety, I looked further down and saw something that was hard to comprehend.
“Going on a journey?”
It stated that after clearing the A-rank dungeon, he would embark on a journey until the start of the academy, during which he wouldn’t be returning to the mansion, meaning I wouldn’t see him for a while.
“W-what does this mean? Lord Lewis is going on a journey? I won’t be able to see him for a time?”
I had never imagined Lord Lewis would be leaving on a journey, so I had been planning when to visit after returning to the mansion.
“Let’s just read the letter to the end for now.”
My hands trembled from nervousness as I held the letter, but I thought there might be information about his destination, so I pressed on.
However, there was no such information in the end, and it concluded with just a line wishing me well.
“Such… Lord Lewis…”
I couldn’t bear the thought of not seeing Lord Lewis for about two years and dropped the letter I was holding.
“What is this?”
Noticing something written on the back of the letter, I hurriedly picked it up and read it.
(Maybe there’s more information on the back!)
However, what was written there was something that plunged me into despair, making me crumple the letter in frustration and anger.
“Hehe. Hehehe. Hehehehe… So it’s true, Fiera. You are my enemy.”
“Iris, I’m going to follow El. You should wait in the mansion for us to return. And by the way, I love El. I love him as much as you do. I am the one who will be loved most by El, so don’t complain if I win. See you!”
Written on the back was a declaration of war from Fiera, which could be interpreted as a challenge.
When I first met her, I somehow anticipated that this kind of future would come.
(That’s why I worked hard in various ways to not lose to her…)
Fiera was indeed a very beautiful woman, and when it comes to beauty, she might even be on par with or surpass me.
Having her always by Lord Lewis as an adventurer was hard to accept, yet at the same time, it made me envious.
Lord Lewis is incredibly strong, and I could tell that just from watching him train in the training grounds.
(Plus, he looked so cool and amazing when he was training!)
Despite shivering in the cold while watching Lord Lewis train, I couldn’t help but think about one thing.
Ah, I can’t stand beside him in battles.
I can use magic too, but I can’t manipulate my magic power as precisely and accurately as he does, and my magic power doesn’t even come close to his.
That’s why I found myself envying Fiera, who could fight together with Lord Lewis.
“However, that’s irrelevant. I am the one who holds his favor.”
As a noble daughter, I cannot deny polygamy. Besides, someone like Lord Lewis couldn’t possibly have just one wife; the society wouldn’t accept it.
“I accept polygamy, but I am the number one. I, his fiancée, am the primary wife.”
No matter how many wives or concubines he might have, the one he loves most is me. I won’t budge on this!
Resolutely, I decided to reevaluate my future plans.
“Lord Lewis, I won’t let you escape. When we meet again, be prepared!”
Thinking about what to do when I enter the academy in two years, I resolved to polish myself so that I wouldn’t lose to Fiera.
—Side Miria—
Lord Lewis left me behind. The day I said I wanted to go with him, Lord Lewis didn’t approve, saying I was unnecessary and a hindrance.
Even so, I tried to follow him, saying I was his maid, but he stated that he would remove me from that role.
The day he saved me, seeing him grow strong and robust made me fall for him, and even if my feelings never come to fruition, I wanted to continue serving him.
For someone like me, the words from Lord Lewis were like a sword, sharp enough to tear my heart to shreds.
After leaving Lord Lewis’s room, I cried a lot in my own room.
I cried so much that I thought I might run out of tears.
The next day, still sad, I couldn’t bring myself to work and told my mother I needed a day off.
Even though I had cried all night, the moment I thought of Lord Lewis, tears sprang back to my eyes.
Those days continued for two days until the day came when Lord Lewis was to leave on his journey.
However, I lacked the courage to go see Lord Lewis off, and ultimately, I could not even go to see him off.
Before long, my mother informed me that the duke was calling for me, and I left my room for the first time in a while.
“Duke. It’s Miria.”
“Come in.”
“I apologize for the intrusion.”
Upon entering, I found the duke, who was working, and he looked up at me.
“I’m sorry for calling you out suddenly. I heard you’ve been resting lately, and I was worried.”
“I’m very sorry for causing you concern.”
“Don’t worry about it. It’s only natural for you to feel lonely since you’ve been with Lewis since childhood.”
“Thank you for your consideration.”
In truth, I had mixed feelings, but I couldn’t express that.
“So, it might be lonely without Lewis, but he’ll be back in two years to attend the academy. When that happens, I’ll ask you to follow him as his maid, so please take care of it.”
“…Huh?”
“Eh? Was that unwelcome?”
“N-no! That’s not the case…”
Lord Lewis had said he would remove me from being his maid that day.
However, it seemed the duke was unaware of such a thing and was saying he would rely on me going forward.
(Could it be that I’m actually needed?)
The cold attitude was perhaps to keep me from being taken into dangerous situations, and maybe Lord Lewis left me behind out of concern.
(Ah. There’s no way Lord Lewis would abandon me. Hehe. Now that it’s confirmed, I need to do my best!)
Realizing that I was held dear by Lord Lewis, I conveyed my determination to the duke and returned to my room, clutching the doll of Lord Lewis I made overnight, brimming with emotions.
“Lord Lewis. I’ll take good care of you. Hehe… Hehehe…”
Though Lord Lewis was not there, with this doll of him, I could do my best.
Dreaming of meeting the real Lord Lewis soon, I decided to practice caring for the doll starting today.
Oh, of course, I’ll work hard on my other duties too. If I don’t, I won’t be able to follow Lord Lewis.
After that, I practiced caring for the doll of Lord Lewis in his room and spent the other times cleaning the mansion with the other maids, working hard while thinking of Lord Lewis every day.

And thus, the return-from-death arc comes to a close.
How was it? If you enjoyed it, I would be very happy.
