Wizard Lord:I can Extract Anything

Chapter 62: Chapter 62: The Body of Adaptation

After learning about the Body of Adaptation, Richard began his training immediately.

The following morning at eight, he entered the training room with the adaptation potion in hand. According to the training records, newcomers should prioritize training elemental resistance.

The training room offered three types of elemental equipment: fire, lightning, and ice.

Injecting the adaptation potion, Richard stripped down, took a deep breath, and stepped into a glass chamber.

When training for elemental resistance, the sequence matters. For optimal results, Richard needed to follow the order of ice, lightning, and then fire.

As the machinery powered up, the temperature in the glass chamber plummeted, frost spreading rapidly across the glass.

The first step of training involved spending thirty minutes naked at minus thirty degrees Celsius.

Inside the freezing chamber, Richard's teeth chattered, and his body shivered uncontrollably.

At minus thirty, thirty minutes was more than enough for a feast in his past life. But with his physique now at thirty, beyond normal human limits, he only suffered from blue-tinted extremities and numerous frostbites.

Next was the electric shock.

Richard, still trembling, seated himself on the electric chair, setting the current to one energy level and a one-minute timer.

As the switch flipped, an indescribable pain surged through Richard's body, causing his entire form to convulse, his hair smoking faintly.

The minute ended, leaving Richard motionless in the chair.

He pondered whether he truly desired this power.

Ultimately, he stood and approached another glass chamber.

This was the final training: fire elemental resistance.

Richard activated the switch, and flames at one energy level engulfed the chamber, filling it with a strange burnt aroma.

After a minute, Richard struggled to open the chamber door, emerging covered in soot, with carbonized skin flaking off with every movement.

Fortunately, Richard had placed the recovery chamber next to the fire training chamber. A few steps later, he collapsed inside.

At that moment, Richard's body, stimulated by the potion, began absorbing external nutrients. On a microscopic level, each cell was active, and the core of life within them began undergoing minute changes.

This is the essence of the Body of Adaptation—altering the core of life through extreme conditions and potions.

According to Jolord's theory, life is resilient, existing from the dark depths of the ocean to the fiery mouths of volcanoes.

Under extreme conditions, life adapts instinctively. Comparing adapted and non-adapted life reveals subtle changes in their life cores.

Based on this theory, Jolord accelerated the adaptation process by thousands of times using potions and extreme environments, creating the alchemical spell known as the Body of Adaptation.

An hour later, Richard emerged from the recovery chamber, his injuries fully healed.

He stretched and dressed.

"Whew, it's like walking through hell."

After training, Richard headed to the library to check out books on the elemental school, selecting a few encrypted notes for extraction.

Returning to his room with the books, Richard dedicated himself to study.

Post-training, Richard found studying less tedious.

Slight adjustments to elemental spell runes could yield significant improvements, far easier than training for the Body of Adaptation.

Perhaps he was a hidden genius in the elemental school.

After a full day of reading, overwhelmed by the elemental school's theoretical formulas, Richard closed the books.

The knowledge of the elemental school had a mathematical elegance.

If you don't understand, you simply don't.

Glancing at the clock, he noted it was 8 PM, and the nightlife at the wizard academy was just beginning.

Exiting the Central Black Tower, Richard decided to visit a tavern in the residential area for a drink.

Entertainment at the wizard academy was sparse, limited to the classic quartet: eating, drinking, gambling, and whoring.

Of these, Richard had no interest in gambling, and his relationship with Ellie rendered the latter unnecessary.

That left eating and drinking.

Since Richard focused on physique, indulging in food and drink was beneficial for his development, blending leisure with training.

As he walked, Richard noticed the youthful faces of new apprentices around him, their gazes filled with either wariness or admiration.

The new batch of apprentices had arrived.

"Time flies," Richard mused.

He once walked in their shoes, but now, he was the one being watched.

The residential area housed several taverns, most run by senior apprentices serving the academy.

Richard entered a familiar tavern, immediately spotting two familiar faces engaged in a drinking contest.

"Another round!" Kevin shouted, slamming his wooden tankard down. Across from him, Chucks did the same with equal gusto.

"Another round, make it strong!"

Richard joined them, intrigued by the scene.

"Kevin, senior, why are you two competing in a drinking contest?"

Chucks, seeing Richard, pulled him into a hug, pressing a one-liter wooden tankard into his hand, his words slurred:

"Junior, your friend here is great. Drinks with gusto!"

Kevin, stumbling, draped an arm over Richard's shoulder.

"Hey! Richard, congratulations on ranking first in points!"

With that, Kevin raised his tankard, shouting to the tavern:

"Everyone, see this guy? This is our legendary apprentice, the top of the leaderboard, Richard!

Let's raise a glass to him!"

The tavern apprentices turned to Richard, their eyes filled with admiration and longing.

Undoubtedly, they all aspired to be like Richard.

They raised their glasses, and Richard took the strong drink offered by the bartender, raising it in return.

"To being alive!"

The crowd echoed:

"To being alive!!!"

...

Time passed swiftly, and a year flew by.

In the morning, Richard resumed his daily Body of Adaptation training.

Throughout the year, he persistently trained, but with minimal progress.

Concerned, he consulted Jolord, only to be reassured it was normal.

The Body of Adaptation was slowest in its initial stages. If life cores were like rusty machines, the hardest part was getting them to move.

As he entered the freezing chamber, Richard took a deep breath, bracing for the familiar sting of frostbite.

He had endured this pain for a year, growing accustomed to it.

But today, something felt different.

As the chamber activated, plummeting temperatures, Richard sensed a change within his body.

He heard a faint crack, as if a shackle had broken.

The rusty machine seemed to have started moving!
