Wizard Lord:I can Extract Anything

Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Secret Realm Exploration Part 1

Upon hearing the man's name, Richard jolted to his feet.

"Greetings, Principal!"

The Grand Wizard of the Black Tower laughed heartily and waved his hand to awaken the other apprentices.

"This batch looks promising, Ereks. You've done well these past years."

Ereks nodded slightly, "Just doing my duty."

Following the Grand Wizard into the room, they entered a study. Tall bookshelves filled half the space, while various curiosities were displayed on the other side, protected by a special transparent barrier—likely the Grand Wizard's collection.

The Grand Wizard was unpretentious. At his level, pretense was unnecessary.

The title "Grand Wizard" was held by only about a thousand in the entire wizarding world, signifying immense power and status.

In most worlds across the astral plane, a Grand Wizard was synonymous with another title—Master of the World.

The Grand Wizard approached a female wizard who seemed to have fused with elemental bloodlines, her hair flickering like flames.

"Little Susanna, it's been two hundred years. Have you missed your teacher?"

Master Susanna looked slightly embarrassed, nodding gently.

She was over four thousand years old, yet in front of the Grand Wizard, she felt like an undeveloped child.

"Is this your apprentice?" The Grand Wizard glanced at Ellie, causing her to blanch.

"Yes, Teacher."

"She looks promising." The Grand Wizard patted Ellie's head and handed her a gemstone radiating heat.

"A lava gem, a trinket from another world. Have an alchemy wizard make it into a staff, and it should boost your fire spells by at least twenty energy levels."

Hearing this, the surrounding apprentices looked at Ellie with envy.

Connections certainly had their perks.

Ellie glanced at her mentor, who nodded reluctantly, prompting her to accept the gem.

"Thank you, Principal!"

The Grand Wizard led them to a door.

"Beyond this door lies the secret realm. Most of it mirrors the Enlightenment Era of the wizarding world, with parts patched from other worlds' realms. However, you're transported randomly, and where you end up depends on luck."

With that, the Grand Wizard waved his hand, and bundles of scrolls flew from his sleeve, landing before each apprentice.

"Keep this scroll with you. You have three hours to explore. When time's up, the scroll will activate and eject you. Remember, the scroll ensures you won't be harmed by the secret realm's denizens, but if you provoke them, your exploration will end early.

Also, the scroll only prevents intelligent beings from attacking you. The brainless ones aren't included.

Be careful not to die in there."

Everyone nodded, securing the scrolls on their persons.

Following the leaderboard order, Richard and another senior apprentice entered first.

Stepping through the door, Richard felt a familiar queasiness, and his surroundings transformed into a blend of colors.

As his vision cleared, a dark, twisted forest appeared before him.

Richard steadied himself, surveying the area.

The secret realm's sky had a sun, looking much like the wizarding world—except for the magic density.

The magic density around him exceeded even the three hundred and first floor, reaching terrifying levels. Here, Richard's magic recovery was nearly as fast as using magic stones.

"So this is the Enlightenment Era of the wizarding world. What did wizards do to the world?" Richard mused, beginning his exploration. Three hours wasn't short, but not overly long either.

Entering the forest, Richard effortlessly found numerous magical plants, many of which were primary materials for potions, some even extinct in the current wizarding world.

"Gold Needle Grass, main ingredient for nerve detox potions."

"Brown Bear Mushroom, main ingredient for basic strength potions."

"Wow, White Crystal Flower, these are extinct outside! A single specimen sells for hundreds of magic stones, and there's a whole cluster here."

As an alchemy apprentice, Richard felt like a mouse in a granary, wanting to take even the ground with him.

Meanwhile, the other nineteen apprentices began their searches. Compared to Richard, they lacked discernment, collecting everything to evaluate later.

Their actions were broadcasted to the room for their mentors to assess.

Watching the headless-chicken-like apprentices, the Grand Wizard sighed.

"Don't you teach natural history anymore? Back when I was an apprentice, it was a required course."

The wizards looked embarrassed. In the current wizarding world, rare materials didn't grow wild, and natural history was taught primarily by the alchemy school.

"Never mind," the Grand Wizard waved it off. "By the way, the council approved the exchange with the White Wizard Academy..."

...

As Richard ventured deeper into the twisted forest, he encountered things beyond his understanding.

"What is this?"

Ahead, the soft ground seemed to harbor something moving beneath.

Richard's eyes narrowed; with a swift motion, he pulled a black worm from the soil.

It resembled an earthworm, with a black, soft body covered in numerous segments. However, unlike regular earthworms, this one was finger-thick and a meter long, resembling a snake from a distance.

Counting nine pale stripes on its body, Richard had a revelation.

"This is a Magic Striped Worm! Its body fluid extract can accelerate human recovery and unlock physical potential," Richard exclaimed in delight.

This creature was nearly extinct in the outside wizarding world, surviving only in the central forest, listed as a level two protected species, prohibited from hunting but allowed for captive breeding.

Richard had seen references to this creature in the Body of Adaptation notes. According to Jolord, adding its extract to the adaptation potion could activate life recovery effects.

Jolord had once bred these worms, but a lab accident killed his specimen.

Since then, he hadn't acquired another.

"Good find, let's keep you."

Richard retrieved a box from his magic pouch, filling it with nutrient fluid.

The Nine-Ring Worm had strong vitality, surviving hours even in a vacuum. With nutrients, it could last days in the magic pouch.

After walking a few hundred meters deeper, Richard suddenly found himself in front of a towering tree, hundreds of meters tall. Its twisted, menacing branches resembled the legendary tree demons, and among them was a massive nest.

The nest was constructed primarily of branches but also contained the bones of formidable creatures.

"Is this the Principal's pet? Even its nest is made of high-level creatures' corpses."

Richard dared not linger, recalling the Principal's warning. He sensed the nest might contain chicks or eggs.

With so much more to explore in the secret realm, provoking such a fearsome creature was unnecessary.

Shortly after Richard left, another apprentice arrived.

Sensing life from the nest, he was tempted, but before he could act, a piercing bird cry echoed in his ears.
